During the school year, students participate in various service
and outreach projects sponsored by the school and parish. The
objective of these projects is to focus on issues such as global
mission awareness, hunger, poverty, and the elderly, in light of
the Gospel teachings.

Examples of our service and outreach projects include:

AMIGO Angels:  In 1999, our parish and other priests of our
deanery initiated this project by sponsoring a poor but hard
working community in Mexico. The project is called "AMIGO, a
Mission in Global Oneness." Our school-wide collections during
Advent and Lent are called "Amigo Angels." Funds over the years
have provided bicycles to transport teachers to school, educational
supplies and many improvements to their little school house. One
of our faculty members has visited and met our Amigo friends at
Guadalupe Xonoxtle School.

Easter Baskets: An additional Lenten activity is our annual Easter
Basket Project. Each grade K - 8 is assigned certain items to bring
into school. Older children collect items and assemble 200 - 250
individual baskets. The finished baskets are blessed at a special
prayer service in the church. Eighth grade students and parents
deliver the baskets to Emmanual Dining Room where they are given
to children of needy families.

Mary Mother of Hope House: Each November, Middle School
Students conduct a special drive of purchasing Shopping Dollars
that are donated to the Hope House. This facility provides help and
shelter for homeless women. Eighth grade students and their
parents deliver the Shopping Dollars and have time to meet with
some of the Hope House residents.

Parish Outreach: Throughout the school year - and always in
November - the school children hold a food drive to supply the
Parish Food Pantry. Needy people in the community who qualify
for this assistance visit the pantry at designated times of the week.
The school is advised when various supplies are needed. At least
once per year, the Student Council donates money generated from
 "Tag Days" to help purchase items for the Food Pantry.

Kids Care: This club is a volunteer service group comprised of sixth through eighth graders who perform service projects in the parish and community. Some of the activities include baking and cleaning at the Ronald McDonald House, reading and playing with preschool children at the Ministry of Caring Guardian Angels Day Care, Sandwich Day, Read Aloud, playing games with seniors and serving lunch to the needy at Emmanuel Dining Hall.
